FG Hands Over PHCN To New Buyers

The Federal Government of Nigeria is to hand over the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to new private owners who recently bought over the company. NIGERIA’S long and tortuous journey to electricity reforms seems to be coming to an end.President Goodluck Jonathan will Monday hand over certificates and licences to buyers of the successor companies of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), heralding the end of an era and the beginning of another. The handover is expected in the next few weeks. There is already excitement in government circles. It is hoped that the coming of the private sector to take over the nation’s generation and distribution companies (gencos and discos) would lead to efficient electricity. The failure of government’s monopoly personified by the battered PHCN is one reason the majority of Nigerians have supported the privatisation of the utilities.

Chinese Man Has New Nose Grown On His Forehead After Losing Nose In A Car Crash

A 22 year old Chinese man named Xiaolian has had a new nose grown on his forehead after loosing his original nose in a car accident. Xiaolian had the treatment to create a replacement for his original nose which was infected and deformed following the accident in 2012. He actually left his damaged nose unattended to after the accident which led to the infection and eventual deformity, leaving the surgeons unable to repair it.

Nollywood Actress In Fatal Accident, Crashes Car Beyond Recognition

Nollywood actress, Biola Bashorun who made her movie debut in the popular movie Eyin Oka escaped death by whiskers when she crashed her Honda car on her way to Badagry.

Forbes recently let go their list of the Highest- Earning Celebrity Couples, which Jay Z and Beyonce topped. Now they’ve released their annual list of Highest Paid Hip-Hop Artists, and while Hov doesn’t top this list too, he comes pretty close at #2. It’s Bad Boy Records’ Diddy who earns the #1 spot on the Hip-Hop Cash Kings list, with an estimated total earning of $50 million in the past year. Hov raked in $43 million on his solo tip, while Aftermath founder Dr. Dre comes just under him at the #3 spot with $40 million in earnings. BREAKING: LAGBUS Crushes Soldier To Death At Surulere, Lagos (PHOTO)

According to The Punch, tragedy struck on Monday on the Funsho Williams Avenue bypass, Surulere, Lagos State, after a yet-to-be identified soldier was crushed to death by a LAGBUS, one of the buses in the state mass transit scheme. Commuters plying the bridge could not help but watch in horror as the mangled body of the soldier was cut into two by the bus.

Eyewitnesses said the  victim, who was riding a motorcycle, was also carrying a woman on the back seat. The passenger was reportedly flung away by the impact of the collision. She was said to be in a critical condition and had been taken to an unknown hospital in the state. It was further learnt that the bus driver, after seeing the extent of the damage, removed his uniform and fled the scene.
