THE WILSON OLUFEMI FOUNDATION (TWO foundation) presents CHILDREN’S DAY PROGRAMME

Objectives
-          To educate and instill leadership skills in children for self-sustenance and community development
-          To meet children’s needs and enable them to achieve their goals in life
-          To increase children’s self-esteem by gratifying their desires in ways that creates opportunities that are available to their contemporaries in the urban regions.
Goal
Equipping the African Child for sustainable development

Background
Observance of Children’s day in Nigeria is aimed to raise public awareness of problems, that children face. About 42% of the Nigerian population is children and 1/3 of children aged from 6 to 14 do not go to schools. Many children leave schools for different purposes and children’s rights are often violated. Unfortunately, the government of Nigeria does not make much to solve the problems connected with children’s violation and imperfect system of education.
In light of this, The Wilson Olufemi Foundation found it necessary to step in to create more than just awareness but to solve these pressing problems by equipping the children with knowledge and skills needed for self-actualization.
The project that is in its maiden stage will be starting with the children in Oboto Community of Ondo State. The children who are out of school will be sent back to school and entrepreneurial skills, which can generate income for their self-sustenance while in school, will be taught.
Writing materials will be given out to the children as Children’s Day gift from the Foundation. HTC (HIV Test and Counseling would also be carried out for the parents and children on their parents’ consent.
The programme is being carried out in partnership with SWAAN ( society for Women And AIDS in Africa, Nigeria chapter) in conjunction with ODSACA (Ondo State Action Committee on AIDS), PEFAP (  Primary Education For All  ), Aiyeboy Nig, and Colours Initiative.
